Third Act Ventures

Early-stage venture capital fund for seed-stage senior living companies

Have you ever wondered what will happen to me when I get older? Founded in 2016 by Max Zamkow, Third Act Ventures is the most active VC in the senior care industry with 24 investments to date. Max received a BS & MS in Bioinformatics from Stanford University and, before moving to the other side of the table, was an integral part of Mobclix (acquired by Velti), NoiseToys (acquired by Jawbone), and Fav.tv (acquired by TVGuide.com). Third Act invests in visionary founders who have built a product, have early signs of traction, and most importantly, care deeply about the problem they are solving. In April 2020, Third Act partnered with 150birds for a full-service revamp of their branding, relaunch of their website, and demand generation across a variety of channels to supplement it's efforts in raising a $20M fund, projected to close in 18-24 months.

Challenge

Raising a new fund

Max is a trailblazer in the Agetech industry, having made more investments than any other sole investor in the vertical in the last 5 years. Third Act is a reference to the life stage the investments focus on after following childhood and adulthood. Thus, they want to create a happy ending for the elderly to get the best care with technology.

Solution

Holistic marketing strategy and team

We started with research to better understand the company positioning and then craft a full-lifecycle marketing plan. We held design and personality workshops to understand the company better and use that insight to develop the branding before developing content and launching demand generation campaigns.
